Few body structures have more influence over your health and well-being then your central nervous system and few body systems have more impact on your central nervous system than the cranisacral system. The stresses that we endure daily on the body from simply walking under the weight of gravity to just dealing with the imperfections of life create stress in the system. Tension and tightening of tissues does not exclude the brain and spinal cord. When the brain and spinal cord are effected the central nervous system becomes effected which means the performance of nearly every other system in the body is compromised. The central nervous system does not only aid in voluntary but involuntary function of the body. . The elevation of anxieties increase when you have an abnormal heightened awareness to nervousness with in your central nervous messaging.

It may also have profound effects on ADD/ADHA, motor coordination impairments, learning disabilities, post traumatic stress disorder, and orthopedic problems.
What can I expect from a session?
A typical CranioSacral therapy session takes place in a quiet, private setting. You remain fully clothed as you relax on a comfortable, padded table. CranioSacral therapy is a light touch approach. Delicate manual techniques are then used to release those problem areas and improve the form and function of your central nervous system. A CraniSacral therapy session can last up to one hour alone or be integrated withother therapies.
Lymph Drainage
-Anti aging effects
-Cellulite reduction
-Immune system boost
-Detoxification
-Reduction of swelling
-Deep relaxation helps depression, insomnia, and anxiety
-Reduction in the discomfort of fibromyalgia
The drainage of the lymph system may result in fluid, toxin, release and alleviation of adipose and cellulite tissue.
The importance of lymph drainage for good health:
Proper functioning of the lymphatic system is critical for the body’s ability to drain stagnant fluids, detoxify, regenerate tissues, filter out toxins, and maintain a healthy immune system. The lymphatic system is unlike the circulatory system does not have a heart to pump its flow. The lymph vessels rely upon hundreds of tiny muscular units contracting throughout the body to propel lymph flow. The essential action of these muscles can be hindered due to surgery, trauma, burns, infections, substantial swelling, fatigue, stress or age. When the lymph circulation stagnates, fluids, proteins, cells, and toxins accumulate, and cellular functioning is significantly comprised this may open the pathways to many physical ailments and hasten the aging process.
Lymphatic drainage is a hands on technique designed to attain and sustain proper functioning of the human fluid system. Research on lymphatic drainage has been published since 1932 and has been refined, honed, and expanded upon over the years. Today lymphatic drainage techniques are employed as standard scientific practice throughout Europe and continues to gain recognition in the United States.
How lymphatic drainage is performed:
The LDT process involves the use of gentle manual maneuvers to aid in the recirculation of body fluids. For clients the process very pleasurable and induces deep states of relaxation.
Using LDT technique, trained therapist are able to detect the specific rhythm, direction, depth and quality of the lymph flow anywhere in the body. From there they can use their hands to perform manual lymphatic mapping (MLM) of the vessels to assess the overall direction of lymphatic circulation, area of stagnation, and the best alternate pathways for draining lymph and other body fluids. The drainage of the lymph system may result in fluid, toxin, release and alleviation of adipose and cellulite tissue.
Deep Tissue
Deep tissue massage is an excellent treatment for stiff tight muscles that are causing discomfort. Some of the things that deep tissue massage could help with are but not limited to Fibromyalgia, Migraines, Headaches, Neck Pain, Arthritis, Sciatica, muscle stiffness, uncomfortable muscle tightness, releases deep tension, Chronic Pain, Back Pain, TMJ Problems, Carpal Tunnel (wrist pain), and Scoliosis
Releasing the tension cause a state of deep relation that can last for hours after the treatment. At TEN SPA our deep tissue therapy is performed by a massage therapist with the diverse education to incorporate many additional skills that further aid in the release of tension. This mixed technique approach can only be successfully articulated into the muscles by a therapist who has mastered the art of each technique. Take our word for it once you try deep tissue at TENSPA you will truly believe the healing power touch can provide. Listed below are some of the modalities used during deep tissue at TENSPA.
Positional release:
This strategy uses palpation of tender points to guider the body into positions to reduce tenderness and pain. This allows the technician to go deep into the tissues while keeping the client in a relaxed state. This technique helps prevent the defense mechanisms in our body to tense other muscle while the therapist works. This process allows specific muscle tension to release.
Proprioceptive Nuero:
Muscular facilitation (PNF) PNF is a muscle stretching and lengthening technique used to increase flexibility more then 15% over conventional static stretching. This increase will aid in greater circulation and the realigning that can occur when you reduce the muscle imbalances that tight muscles can promote.
Range of motion stretching:
Involves movements which promote the lengthening of muscle and the improvement of range of motion. Many times as we continue our live moving through the same rep4estaed movements we develop a feeling of tightness. We stand the same way. Tilt our heads on the phone the same way sit in the car, the couch , a chair the same was all training our bodies to be one dimensional. We lose range of motion with age and simply blame it on age. The truth is that this range can be reintroduced revealing the more fluid bodily feeling be remember from our most youthful conditioned times in life.
Myofacial release:
The most interesting aspect of the fascial system is that it is not just a system of separate coverings. It is actually one structure that exists from head to foot without interruption. Due to this release can yield you an over all sense of contentment without your body. Myofascial release operates on the principle that many people hold stress in their muscles, which causes the muscles to seize or lock. Myofascial release aims to access these areas of blockage and tension to release them, thereby freeing up the muscle and allowing it to move more effectively.
Sports massage:
Variety of techniques are used to improve athletic performance within a specific time frame relative to an event. The client event and timing of the event are factors in the treatment protocol. Both performance and recovery can be greatly improved with massage factored into your training regime.
Swedish
Swedish massage is the most commonly offered and best known type of massage. Part of why it has become virtually a household name is because it is truly a treasure to those who are seeking an incredibly relaxing pampering experience. The touch is firm enough to unwind tight muscles and stiffness yet soft enough for you to drift into a nirvana of complete relaxation.
Swedish massage uses a firm but gentle pressure to improve the circulation, ease muscle aches and tension, improve flexibility and create relaxation.
Swedish massage employs five different movements: long gliding strokes, kneading of individual muscles, friction, hacking or tapping and vibration
The therapist generally uses massage oil to facilitate making long, smooth strokes over the body. Swedish massage is done with the person covered by a sheet, a technique called "draping". One part of the body uncovered, massaged, and then covered up before moving on to another part of the body.
Hot stone
If you have never indulged in a hot stone massage then treat yourself to this exquisite experience.
Hot stone massage is a specialty massage that uses smooth, heated stones. They are often basalt, a black volcanic rock that absorbs and retains heat well. It is a deeply soothing, relaxing form of massage where the heat helps tight muscles release. Stone massage involves the application of water-heated basalt stones of varying sizes to key points on the body, giving a deep massage and creating sensations of comfort and warmth. The direct heat relaxes muscles, allowing manipulation of a greater intensity than with regular massage.
Those experiencing a hot stone massage will notice a healing improvement of the following symptoms:
- Muscular aches, pains, sprains, and strains
- Poor circulation
- Rheumatic and arthritic conditions
- Fibromyalgia
- MS
- Back pain
- Stress, anxiety and tension
- Insomnia

Reiki
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.
A treatment feels as if there is a rejuvenating radiance flowing through and around you. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing. Many have reported miraculous results.
Reiki is not taught in the usual sense, but is transferred to the student during a Reiki class. This ability is passed on during an "attunement" given by a Reiki master and allows the student to tap into an unlimited supply of "life force energy" to improve one's health and enhance the quality of life.
Zen Shiatsu
Zen Shiatsu is a traditional form of Japanese Body work. During a Zen Shiatsu session a deep state of relaxation is created thru the application of palm and thumb pressure along 14 energy pathways, or meridians, throughout the body. Zen Shiatsu works on physical, emotional, and spiritual level by moving stagnant or blocked energy and bringing the body back into its natural state of balance and harmony. You may feel an innate sense of well-being, relief, and contentment at the conclusion of a session. Some may describe this feeling in one word. Freeing. . Regular sessions help to prevent and alleviate the accumulations of built up stress and tension in the body. Bodywork helps to promote a general sense of balance and well being. Thai Massage is performed fully clothed and is traditionally done on a mat or futon, at floor level. Wear loose, warm, comfortable clothing and socks.

Increasing this flexibility will bring fresh blood supplies to stagnant tissues and increase youthful mobility. Regular sessions help to prevent and alleviate the accumulations of built up stress and tension in the body. Bodywork helps to promote a general sense of balance and well being. Polarity
Polarity therapy is a four-part approach to balancing the energetic patterns of the body. Based on principles developed by Randolph Stone, an osteopath, naturopath and chiropractor, PT combines bodywork, nutrition, stretching postures and attitudinal counseling to free energy blockages and establish a natural energy flow for self-healing.
Drawing from Western manipulative techniques, naturopathy, Chinese energy medicine and Ayurvedic medicine, Stone formulated his therapy based on the underlying principle of wireless currents in, around and through the body. According to Stone, it is this subtle energy flow that gives life and through which the soul functions. Quite simply, disease occurs when the flow is disrupted. Polarity therapy, rather than treating disease, is focused on reestablishing the natural balance of this flow, which in turn allows healing to take place.
“Polarity therapy is the study of the law of relationships,” Lipton says. “It starts with understanding the energetic patterns of the body. Energetic patterns do not necessarily release with muscle massage.” The work has to go beyond where the pattern gets repeated in order to affect a shift, she says. By going deeper into stress patterns, the body’s unconscious holding patterns are released.
Reflexology
What is reflexology?
The art of reflexology dates back to Ancient Egypt, India and China, it wasn’t until 1913 that Dr William Fitzgerald introduced this therapy to the West as ‘zone therapy’. He noted that reflex areas on the feet and hands were linked to other areas and organs of the body within the same zone.
In the 1930’s Eunice Ingham further developed this zone theory into what is now known as reflexology. She observed that congestion or tension in any part of the foot is mirrored in the corresponding part of the body.
Reflexology is a complementary therapy, which works on the feet to help heal the whole person not just the prevailing symptoms.
How can reflexology help me?
Reflexology can be used to help restore and maintain the body’s natural equilibrium. This gentle therapy encourages the body to work naturally to restore its own healthy balance.
Reflexology has been shown to be effective for: arthritis, digestive disorders, back pain, migraine, infertility hormonal imbalances, sports injuries, digestive disorders, stress related conditions.
